About Me

My name is Francois, I’m from Brockley, and I run a Sicilian grocery / wine bar, Casanova & daughters, in Neal’s Yard which is closed for now. My business partner Mr Casanova is in charge of the production in Sicily, Normally we supply some of the best restaurants in London – Annabel’s, Sketch, Folie, Mandrake… but of course now that is no longer possible so we have moved the stock to Brockley to sell online and supply locally.

Our delivery terms

We make deliveries in SE4 and SE13 on Thursday and Friday at the end of the afternoon. Orders placed by midnight will be delivered the next day.

Aperitivo

Everything you need for a nice aperitivo:

– 1 bottle of Etna rosato
There is something special about Etna, this 3300 metres high volcano is still very active, it’s alive!! Pietradolce rosé, produced from Nerello Mascalese grapes from the Northern slope of the volcano is citrusy and mineral.

– 1 jar of caponata (250gr)
A quintessentially Sicilian veggie dish – ready to eat! (room temperature)
Ingredients: aubergine 54%, tomato sauce 12%, onion, celery, extra-virgin olive oil, green olive, vinegar, capers, sugar, salt, basil, garlic, pepper.

– 1 jar of black olives cerasuola (200gr)
The cerasuola is a small olive from Sicily with a deep flavour

– 1 tapenade (90gr)
Black tapenade made by our chef Roberto.

– 1 bag of organic chick peas (500gr)
Marco grows this organic chickpeas in Salaparuta. Perfect for your home made hummus!

– 1 bag of organic lentils (400gr)
From Marco again, they are firm, perfect for salads (don’t under estimate the lentil salad, it’s so good!!)

– 1 bag of Sicilian almonds ( 450gr)
High quality almonds

– 1 pot of hazelnut spread (200gr)
It’s a bit like Nutella but much nicer! With 30% hazelnuts and crunchy bits it’s highly addictive.
Ingredients: sugar, hazelnuts 30%, sunflower oil, extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, cacoa butter, skimmed milk powder, whey powder,soy licethin, vanilla flavour.

Full taste of Sicily

– 1 spaghetti (1kg)
Durum semola pasta made in Sicily. Hard to come back to normal dry pasta after that!
Ingredients: durum wheat semolina, water. Contains gluten.

– 1 tuna buzzonaglia (160gr)
Tuna buzzonaglia is a traditional Sicilian ingredient. It comes from the fillet in contact with the central bone of the fish, it’s a darker meat with rich flavor. I really like it with capers and a lemon juice in pasta or on a bruschetta.
Ingredients: tuna buzzonaglia 65%, sunflower oil 34%, salt.

– 1 jar of capers (80gr)
Wild capers from Linosa, a little island between Sicily and Africa. It’s great to use with fish or in a salad. For me it’s a killer in a fish pie.
Ingredients: capers and 3% salt.

– 1 jar of wild fennel seeds (50gr)
Harvested by Mario and his 3 sons in the hills of Sicily, these great little seeds are fantastic with fish, pork, salads…

– 1jar of chilli flakes (40gr)
Lisa grows the chilli for us in the South in her beautiful garden.

– 1 bunch of wild oregano flowers
The easiest way to make pasta is to simply put a nice olive oil and oregano flowers on top, my kids love it!

– 1 bottle of extra-virgin olive oil Nocellara (0,5l)
It’s an olive oil I normally sell to Sketch. the nocellara is powerful and fresh.

– 1 peace of pecorino (400gr)
This cheese is made from sheep milk in the region of Corleone, amazing!
